Do I need an electrician to install motorized shades?▾

Not necessarily. Our battery-powered motors run on rechargeable batteries (USB-C charging, 12–18 months per charge) and require absolutely no hardwiring — our installation team handles everything. If you prefer hardwired motors for high-traffic windows or large installations, we coordinate with a licensed electrician as part of the project, included in your quote.

How long do the batteries last, and how do I recharge them?▾

Our rechargeable motors typically last 12–18 months on a single charge depending on how often the shades move. Recharging is simple — you plug a USB-C cable (included) directly into the motor housing for a few hours. Some motors have an indicator light that flashes when the battery is getting low, so you always know in advance.

Can I motorize window treatments I already own?▾

In many cases, yes. If your existing shades or blinds are from compatible brands (Hunter Douglas, Alta, Graber, Norman, and others), we can often retrofit a motor without replacing the entire shade. We’ll evaluate your current treatments during the in-home consultation and let you know what’s possible and what would be the most cost-effective solution.

What happens if the power goes out or the app isn’t working?▾

Every motorized shade we install includes a manual override option — either a physical remote control or a discreet wall button — so you always have a backup. Battery-powered shades are completely unaffected by power outages. Hardwired motors typically include a built-in battery backup as well.

Battery motors require zero installation work — no wiring, no wall cuts — and are perfect for rentals or any situation where hardwiring isn’t practical. They recharge via USB-C every 12–18 months.
